An idea comes from what I see. Each moment through my eyes is one that is framed. This framework may come by means of my own mental blocking or a window I am looking through, Whether it be a placement of body or an exterior uncontrollable (stationary) object, I try to remain aware of the vantage point that I see from. This awareness allows me to become more in tune with how we look and experience a spectacality.
A spectacle for me includes a performative aspect. The performance is not only in the melodrama of an image, but starts from the beginning of the creation of the canvas. Building the structure for the painting is just as important as a part of the process as any other. A sturdy support not only means it hangs on the wall correctly and is the foundation for a painting, but allows me to walk on it, physically turning it into a stage for the production of the viewing experience. This interaction with the canvas paired along with previous ideas of imagery, allows the painter to deal with the moment on top of something that has a plan. The structure physical and illusionary, allows for the performative aspect to engage in melodrama.
