The two black drawings with pen are my weekly postings, and the artist included is Mark Grotjahn (bottom), who does similar work to mine. Grotjahn uses multiple perspectives in his geometric arrangements that are slightly yet deliberately misaligned, creating a kind of energy within the paintings. His black series are his earlier works, and recently his paintings have become much looser and more colorful. My two drawings (top) in this post have three layered webs, the white one being embossed lines into the paper surface. The result is that the lines of each web intertwine with each other, creating an active kind of structure within the larger areas of charcoal.
