The drawings I am including in this post (bottom three) are done on little sheets of a found "coffee-paper" pad with a sort of cloudy, burnt orange ground. I decided that I would try doing drawings for a while on things other than a prefabricated 'artist' sketchbook with plain white paper. I have also been doing some sketches and drawings in a phone book, which I will post probably next week. The artist included is Frank Stella, and the work (top) is from his series of black paintings. Granted, these are older paintings of his and his more recent work has grown into shaped canvases, I still find that his black paintings are very powerful with very little actually done to them.
