Rebecca Tennenbaum Weekly Drawing

The top drawing is a study of mine working with ruled lines and primaries, working towards black. The other two are paintings by Brice Marden, who I have been looking to for some monochromatic painting as well as line work. Middle: "The Dylan Painting" Bottom: "Study for the Muses (Hydra Version)"

Mark Dion very cool instalations

This guys raises pretty interesting questions about capitalism and education when it comes to using signs and signifiers like this. you could read more from the art critical write up by Eric Gelber:http://artcritical.com/2005/12/01/mark-dion/

Drawing Week 4-Kate

Joshua Keyes - Kate

"Josh Keyes' style is reminiscent of the diagrammatic vocabulary found in scientific textbook illustrations that often express through a detached and clinical viewpoint an empirical representation of the natural world. Assembled into this virtual stage set are references to contemporary events along with images and themes from his personal mythology. Josh Keyes' work is a hybrid of eco-surrealism and dystopian folktales that express a concern for our time and the Earth's future. "

I really like how he uses a kind of info-graphic style which is so clean and illustrational to portray chaos and armageddon.
